Adam Jankowski

CURRICULUM VITAE

Adam Jankowski is a Polish national, trained as a lawyer in Poland and the United States, specialised in commercial law and international arbitration.


Professional Experience

In 2020, Adam Jankowski joined Armesto & Asociados to work under the supervision of the founding partner, Juan Fernández-Armesto. Adam is in charge of supporting a number of international arbitration proceedings (ad hoc and administered) mainly with a focus on investment disputes administered by ICSID.

Before joining Armesto & Asociados, Adam was a consultant at the World Bank for the Infrastructure Finance, PPPs and Guarantees Group and the Transport Global Practice on a variety of projects centred on infrastructure regulation and creating an enabling climate for the private sector to provide financing for infrastructure projects. After three years at the World Bank, Adam moved to Armesto & Asociados to make full use of his arbitration, infrastructure and linguistic expertise.

Prior to his experience at the World Bank, Adam was an intern in the compliance department of ING Poland, a financial services institution, for a period of six months, and at the World Bank in the Development and Economics Vice-Presidency (DEC), for a period of five months.


Education

Adam holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics from the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw, with a specialization in English and French, obtained in 2016. His bachelor’s thesis analysed the lexis and translation approaches for investment arbitration decisions using the example of the Eureko v. Poland award.

Adam also holds a Master’s degree in international comparative law, with a Master’s thesis on international investment arbitration, from the Faculty of Law at the University of Warsaw, which he obtained in 2015. In the course of the Master’s program, Adam represented his university at the FIAMC investment arbitration moot court.

Finally, in May 2017, Adam obtained a Master’s degree with distinction in international law from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he took multiple courses on international investment and commercial arbitration, with his name placed on the Dean’s List. Following his graduation, he passed the New York Bar examination and is pending admission to practice as an attorney in the State of New York.
