Bianca McDonnell is an Australian and Irish national that is trained as a lawyer in Australia and is specialised in public international law and international arbitration.
Experience in Arbitration
In 2017 Bianca McDonnell joined Armesto & Asociados to work in a team with founding partner Juan Fernández-Armesto. Bianca participates in arbitration proceedings, including international, ad hoc and administered arbitrations involving commercial and investment disputes.
Most of the cases are administered by the ICC and ICSID. As for the ad hoc arbitrations, most are subject to the UNCITRAL Rules.
Before joining Armesto & Asociados, Bianca obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Legal Studies with a Certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution at Georgetown University Law Center. She graduated with Distinction, was a Dean´s List Honoree and attained a GPA of 3.97/4.00. During the second semester she completed an externship at Three Crowns LLP´s Washington D.C. office. Bianca represented Georgetown University Law Center at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna and the Florida International University Miami Vis Pre-Moot. Bianca is a coach of the Sri Lankan Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology Vis Moot team.

Bianca completed an externship at Three Crowns LLP’s Washington D.C. office for a period of four months. In 2015 Bianca completed a six month internship for Judge Carmel Agius, President of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. During her law degree in 2015, Bianca gained experience assisting lawyers at Sparke Helmore Lawyers and Clear View Lawyers. She additionally completed a three month internship at Human Rights Watch in Sydney. In 2013 Bianca spent a year working as a law clerk for the criminal barrister Tania Evers, at Frederick Jordan Chambers in Sydney.
Bianca obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Legal Studies with a Certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution at Georgetown University Law Center. She graduated with Distinction, was a Dean´s List Honoree and attained a GPA of 3.97/4.00. Bianca was the President and Founder of the United Nations Association – Georgetown Law. She was an LL.M. Editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Law.
Bianca graduated with First Class Honours from her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Technology, Sydney. Bianca received a High Distinction for her research honours thesis on: ´Establishing the Individual Criminal Responsibility for International Crimes Perpetrated by Members of ISIL in Syria and Iraq.´ During her fourth year, Bianca completed an exchange program in Milan at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Bianca was a student representative judge of the Student Misconduct and Appeals Committee.
Bianca completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and is eligible for admission to the New South Wales Legal Professions Admission Board.
